Obituary of Lorna Marie Cherney

Lorna M. Cherney, 82, went to be with the Lord on August 30, 2010 at her home in Garden Grove, California. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Cherney, three children (Robert & David Cherney, and Marie Johnson) and five grandchildren. Lorna was born and grew up in Snyder, New York, finished college and taught elementary school for several years. She took a position at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland where she met her husband Joe. They were married and moved to Long Beach, California in 1953. Lorna and Joe relocated to Orange County, California in 1955 to the current family home in Garden Grove where they raised their family. Lorna was very active in Child Education. She was a substitute school teacher, Sunday school teacher and hosted "Good News clubs" in her home for the neighborhood children. She helped a family of Hmong immigrants from Laos adjust to American culture when they came to the US and was considered an adoptive member of their families. She was active in the "Helps" ministry of Anaheim Community Church. Her family, friends, and the many whose lives she has touched will miss her. Lorna Memorial Service There will be a Memorial Service held for Lorna Cherney on Saturday September 18 at 2 PM.
