Obituary

Annie Ruth Williams was born on December 24, 1934 to the late Erwin and Rosie Stevens.
Although Anne was an only child, her mother raised her cousin James Mack whom Annie
considered to be like a brother. She married Thomas Williams in 1962 which later ended in
divorce. Ann was in her Cerritos, CA home when she peacefully transitioned from this side of
heaven on July 14, 2022.
Annie was a devout Christian and believer in Jesus Christ, often times giving encouraging
spiritual words to others. For many, many years, she has been a faithful and supportive
member of the Tower of Faith Evangelistic Church located in Compton, CA. Though she had
no children, Annie lived her life in service and support to others. To her many cousins and
friends, she was a shelter in times of storms. She was compassionate, caring and had a love
for family and friends that could only be matched by the love of Christ.
Annie migrated to Fresno CA in 1970 where she attended Fresno State University (FSU).
She received a BA degree in Nursing in 1971 and later received her Master’s degree in
Nursing Education with a specialty in Psychiatric Nursing. When Annie relocated to Los
Angeles County, she received a Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling in 1976 from California
State University Los Angeles.
Annie had a long and fulfilling employment career. She taught nursing at the FSU for 2 years,
was Assistant Professor at California State University for 6 years, and was Nurse-In-Service
Educator at the Long Beach Veterans Hospital and Case Manager at Kemper Insurance. She
also started and managed a successful business called Rehabilitation Management Specialist
for over 35 years, and served as a Rehabilitation Counselor Consultant for the US
Department of Labor.
Annie’s hobbies were reading and golf. She also enjoyed and participated in different sorority
events with charter memberships in Alpha Nu-1972 (served as Epistoleus), Iota Omicron
Omega-1974, Theta Alpha Omega-1978 and Pi Sigma Omega-beginning 1987 in Cerritos,
CA.
Annie leaves to cherish her memory a poodle mix dog Little Annie, Nieces Lynette Turner and
Deborah Mack, Nephew Anthony Mack, Cousins Ocie Brown, Little Ocie, Lamont Haggerty
and Sherelyn (Jean) Presley, Sister-in-Law Irene Mack (James Mack-deceased), the Moore
family and a host of other cherished relatives and friends.
