Obituary of Maria Gonzalez

Alhambra, CA— Maria Teresa Gonzalez, 58, entered paradise with God Monday on January 18, 2021 at Alhambra Medical Center. Maria lives on through her son, Bryan Gonzalez; her parents, Rosario and Rafael Gonzalez; her sisters, Patricia Tellez, Lupe Garcia, Leticia Urtecho, and Rebecca Rodriguez; her many nieces, nephews and God children; and her many close friends. Maria was born and raised in the city of Los Angeles, she was a lifelong resident of the area, living in the City of Alhambra the last 25 years. In her early years, Maria spent her time growing up with her sisters, riding her tricycle, playing in the garden, and being with her grandmother Lupe. She attended Wilson High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix. Maria worked in the dental insurance company industry for over 30 years. Maria worked hard and made sacrifices while being a single mother. She excelled at the role of being both parents to her son. She was active in the Boy Scouts as a Troop Leader, participated as a Team Mom during basketball seasons, and served her church in Sunday School, Confirmation and Youth group for over 25 years. Maria returned to School at the age of 56 and attended Mount Saint Mary’s University. She was pursuing a second degree majoring in Gerontology and Social Work. Maria had a passion for her faith spent much of her free time volunteering at the church, giving back to the community, and aiding All Souls Church Youth Ministry. She impacted many lives of youth in her community. She enjoyed her walks at the Rose Bowl, visits at the Arboretum, and evening swim classes. She had a special place in her heart for her dogs, Emily and Buddy. Maria could always be found greeting you with a smile on her face and with open arms ready to embrace you. Maria was a unique person with the gift of unconditional love and she will be dearly missed. She will always be in our hearts, never forgotten, and forever our angel.
