Obituary of Jay D. Vecchione
Gerardo "Jay" Daniel Vecchione was born January 19, 1965 in Rhode Island to Jerry and Diane. The family moved to California when Jay was about three years old. He graduated from high school early to join the Navy in 1983. Jay served our country for six years in the Navy on the USS Philadelphia based in Connecticut and through his military career made life-long friends. After leaving the Navy, he worked for his dad, and at security jobs until he started at Experian. Jay worked for Experian for 18+ years working his way up to Facilities Supervisor. He is survived by his parents Jerry and Diane, his older sister Christine, younger sister Barbara, niece Casey and nephew Daniel. Also survived by his Godfather Louie and Godmother Linda as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, 2nd cousins, friends, shipmates, and co-workers. The seriousness of his medical condition and the aggressiveness of his physical decline took many by surprise. Jay is (and will always be) loved. Per his request, he will be cremated and a gathering will be held in his honor on Saturday, March 31st at Melrose Abbey Memorial Park and Mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the CHOC Children's Foundation, 455 South Main St., Orange, CA 92868 (include a note with the designation and honor of information). Memorial donations can also be made through their website CHOC.org/giving. Click on donate now - select amount - designate - other and type in CHOC Oncology General Fund - complete rest of form.
