So Many Thank You's to Say
My brother, Vaughn Wicks came to visit me in 1986 before he went into the work. He met the David family then; and when my other brother, Blaine Wicks, came to visit, he met them too. Paul became lifelong friends of the Wicks family, and by extension his father and mother as well. My mother, Marlene Wicks, came to visit me a couple of times; the first time when my oldest daughter, Francesca was 10 months old. She loved Mr. & Mrs. David immediately, so inspired by her fellowship with them. My mother passed away in December of 1999; and Paul was very supportive of our family during that time, as was Mr. and Mrs. David. I also had the honor of being at Paul and Christine's wedding; and they were at Blaine's wedding. As the years passed; there came a time when I needed help. I had just started a new position, driving from Aliso Viejo to Long Beach; at the same time my landlord sold her house. I had to move with my 3 girls, 3 weeks before school got out for the summer. Due to my long hours of 6:15am - 6:15pm and even more overtime, 5 days a week; I did not have the time to properly search for a home for us in that short time. My brother called Paul, who spoke with his parents; they were going on vacation to Hawaii and graciously and generously offered me their home while they were there. I still am amazed at their spirit of giving and trust in me to open their home in such a manner. I never forgot Mr. David's graciousness towards me, as he gave me a tour of his home and showed me how to operate everything, and shared all he and Mrs. David had. To this day, it brings tears to my eyes when I think on it; I am forever touched by his spirit and that of his lovely wife. Paul and Christine also helped immensely; even with their busy schedules, to help transport my 3 daughters to different schools. It was a lot to ask; especially given my early schedule, and no one complained or asked anything of me. I cannot imagine how there will ever be a chance to repay such a display of generosity in all ways; and if I could, would I give it with such graciousness shown to me. The spirit of God was and is ever present in this family. God bless the soul of Mr. David always. In Jesus name, Lisa Wicks
