Kaye A Mach of Garden Grove, CA passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Orange CA. He was born January 12, 1937 in Clay Center, Kansas to Joe and Lottie (Holechek) Mach. His K-12 schools in Colorado, and Narka, Kansas. After graduation from high school, he worked for the Colorado Fish and Game Department stocking fish in the Big Thompson. Kaye decided he needed new direction from fish and chose to enroll at Northern Colorado University (formerly Colorado State College). He earned a BA and MA in business education from NCU. He had a lifelong love of teaching. In 1958 he began his teaching career at Elkhorn High School, Elkhorn, Iowa and also drove a school bus daily. He then moved on to Lewis Central High School, Council Bluffs, IA in 1960. January 14, 1963, Kaye married his best friend and the love of his life, Janie Dalton. They "eloped" to Omaha, Nebraska for the ceremony. They both continued teaching in Council Bluffs. In 1965 he began his college teaching years at Kearney State College, Kearney, Nebraska. By 1966 the couple moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota so Kaye could begin work on a Doctorate in Business education. After one year, Kaye became a professor at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. The couple lived there for 13 years. The first summers were spent back in Grand Forks working on his degree. In their spare time, the purchased small homes and renovated them into rentals. After 13 years of cold winter weather, Janie & Kaye moved to Garden Grove California where Kaye taught at Irvine Valley College, Irvine, CA until he retired in 2004. Retirement years were a blast. Every summer Kaye would pack up Janie & the Scottie dog in th RV and travel to Kansas and Colorado exploring and adventuring along the way. Kaye and Janie celebrated the 50th year together January 14, 2013. All through the years they experienced a closeness and bonding that is rare. Kaye was preceded in death by his dad, Joe and his mom, Lottie. Those who are left behind are his beloved wife and companion, Janie and his loved Scottie, Abigail. His sister-in-law, Marilyn and her husband Stan Douglas of Denver. Larry Douglas a nephew and Kim Jurich a niece. He also leaves a host of cousins and friends in Narka, Kansas. Kaye adamantly requested to have no services. Our goodbyes were private. If you have a private goodbye or thought-use it. He will be cremated at the Melrose Abbey Funeral home. You were always happy and loved life and were loyal to a fault. I've lost my best friend and husband. You have no more suffering to endure.
