Circus Story
I worked with Kaye at Irvine Valley College for many years. I was in the Business Lab and he taught the Business Science curriculum. I was a single mom and after my kids graduated high school and went off to college, I thought I was finished with the child rearing responsibilities. My dream was to run off and join the circus and live the footloose life. Sounded like a joke to everyone I told, except for Kaye. He told me all about his experiences with circuses and elephants in particular. He guided me in my research of what circus best suited me and why. I followed his advice and went to a smaller circus that had come to town and made inquiries about employment. He gave me tips about Culpepper and Merryworth (I think that was the name) and other important information, never questioning how prudent or feasible it really was. I was quite serious at the time and Kay honored and respected my pursuits. He gave me the honest picture of the circus life and advice I will always remember. I especially loved his elephant stories- I now give to a charitable organization that protects elephants. I will include Kaye in my donation. As things turned out for my circus aspirations; I realized that the kids being in college didn't really free me up, especially financially. I also realized, that although I was willing to sleep in RV's and do all sorts of jobs as necessary in the circus, my horse training and riding skills were not good enough, nor was I willing to get a license allowing me to drive big rigs that carried wild animals. I will never forget Kaye's kind advice and willingness to help me achieve what I thought might have been my circus dream. Thank you, Kaye! We will all miss him-he was a very special fellow. Leslie Levy, now retired from IVC.

knowing Kaye
I met Kaye when we were both hired at Irvine Valley College. From the beginning I liked him as though he had been a friend of many years. He could be serious and then that smile would appear on his face and we would sit and laugh and share stories. His office was next to mine for about 18 years and often we left both doors open and talked throughout the day. What I remember most is that I always met him at 3:15 on Mondays, prior to our 4:00 classes and we would talk family, politics, circus, students and whatever else we could laugh about. In many ways he was my mentor. A little older but much wiser. I admired his mid-western values. He always spoke about the great times he and his wife had on trips. He supported my Speech program and I always appreciated him for his support. Rest in peace my old friend. You are someone I will always remember and respect. Craig Grossman

It is with great sadness I learned today of Kaye's passing. He was my chemo buddy. We spent several hours every Tuesday for 11 months together. He was always there with his dry wit, cracking jokes even when we both were feeling pretty bad. He was the one thing about therapy I could look forward to. At least he would be there. I will miss him terribly, and my deepest sympathy goes out to Janie his family.

K's love of the circus and carnivals.
All of Kaye's he loved the circus. When we moved to California he became quite involved with Circus Modelers. He even created his own K.Mach circus which he displayed. He collected everything circus or carnival.

Dear Janie, We were so sorry to learn of Kaye's passing. Please accept our sympathy. Duane has a picture hanging on his den wall of Grandma Dollie and he, his two brothers and Kaye. This brought to mind many thoughts and memories of him. We both went to school with him and spent many holidays together. Blessings, Duane & Virleen
